Hiya there and how have you been this week?
Well I have now played 79 Sit and Go Tournaments in my quest to
get my Bankroll up - I am focussing purely on these right now as
I feel it's a great way to win in a slow, but sure, way without
risking much of my bankroll to get there.
So - I bet you want to know how its going... huh?
OK - So far - after 79 SnG's - I am $414 up !!
Yay - just another 121 to play and I'll decide what to do after
that -
But if you are just starting out - this is a really good way to
practice and get good - start off on the $11 tables and see how
it goes.
If you are more experienced, then try starting off on the $22 or
$33 tables.

Climbing Pikes Peak Barefoot !
*******************************
Here we are at yet another WPT Final table -they seem to kick up
some amazing hands...
It is the LA Poker Classic on February 21, 2006 at 5:00 PM at the
Commerce Casino and we are down to five players...
There is 400,000 in the pot.
Steve Simmons picks up 7D and 4C and quickly folds.
Action now on JC Tran who picks up AS and AD
Vince Van Patten commentating: "Oh look at JC Tran, he's
picked the Godzillas,
the pair of Aces!"
Mike Sexton also commentating: "Can you believe it - he
is loving this right now."
JC Tran reaches for his chips and puts in 600,000 to make the pot
now stand at 1,000,000.
Michael Woo folds his QD & 6C
Action moves to Alan Goehring who has 5H and 5C and he quickly
announces "All In!"
and he puts his remaining 1,425,000 into the pot which now stands
at 2,425,000.
Vince Van PAtten: "And look at this - Alan Goehring with
a pair of Fives has gone over the top and gone all in !!".
Mike Sexton: "That's music to JC Tran's ears I can tell
you that !!"
Action moves to Daniel Quach who picks up 8S and 2D
- he shows these cards to the crowd and lays them down.
Action back to JC Tran who calls and puts in the remaining chips
and with the pot standing at 3,140,000 both players put their cards
on the table and stands up.
Mike Sexton: "Alan sees the Aces and believe me Vince,
he is feeling badly right now."
Alan sees the Aces and says: "I have you covered buddy
!"
Mike Sexton: "Alan Goehring, made a stab at it, he had
a small pair, was hoping they were either good or JC Tran might
throw his hand away but unfortunately for Alan, he's run into a
brick wall."
Both players are up and walking around the table - gesturing to
the crowd - of the two, Alan actually seems to be more positive,
he's laughing and smiling while JC Tran looks a bit apprehensive
even though the odds of winning this hand stand at 79% in his favour.
The Flop comes down: 7S 9S 2S
Vince: "Ohh that is great for JC Tran."
JC looks at his friends in the crowd and holds up one finger
saying: "One out, he only has one out". He looks alot
happier now.
The 5S is no good to Alan as this would give JC the Nut Flush -
so the 5D is the only card that can save Alan and the odds are now
94% in JC's favour.
Mike Sexton: "You talk about climbing Pikes Peak - well
that's what Alan is trying to do - and do it bare foot !!"
Pikes Peak is the most visited mountain in
North America and the second most visited mountain in the world
behind Japan's Mount Fuji. At an altitude of 14,110 feet above sea
level, Pikes Peak is the 31st highest peak out of 54 Colorado peaks.
It is the farthest east of the big peaks in the Rocky Mountain chain,
which contributed to its early fame among explorers, pioneers and
immigrants and made it the symbol of the 1859 Gold Rush to Colorado
with the slogan, "Pikes Peak or Bust".
Vince: "He is a big long shot - two cards to come"
Mike: "He is like the last drop of water in the tub -
he is going down the drain"
The Turn comes down as 2H.

JC Tran turns to his friends again: "Well that gave him
another out" because now if the 5S comes down, it will give
Alan the Full House over JC's Ace-Flush.
The odds stay as 94% in JC's favour.
Vince: "He needs the EXTREME miracle - Alan Goehring -
on the respirator right now - he is circling the drain - can he
outdraw JC??"
The River comes down - 5D !!!

Mike Sexton leaps out of his chair, Vince Van Patten stands up
clutching his stomach - they both shout together: "NOOOOOOOOOO
WOOOOOOOAHHH CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????"
Alan turns around and pumps the air repeatedly, JC Tran puts his
head in his hands and walks out of the arena... The crowd scream
and shout...
Mike: "UNBELIEVABLE - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT??? On the River
to win this pot!!!"
Vince: "Alan Goehring sucking out on the RIver"
Mike: "Well I know that everyone watching this say 'I
get Aces cracked' - well it may happen in your home game but we're
at the final table of the World Poker Tour and we're talking about
literally a Two Million Dollar difference between the next guy that
goes out and the guy that wins the tournament - and unfortunately
for JC Tran - he's going to be out in 5th Place."
Meanwhile Alan has been celebrating so much - he's dropped and broken
his expensive sunglasses whilst hugging his friends in the crowd.
He comes back to the table with sheer disbelief and joy on his face
and looks around for JC: "Where's JC??" He looks to the dealer
and confirms that he had more chips than his opponent and realises
that he's knocked JC out of the final.
The camera swings into the darkness of the exits and suddenly you
can vaguely see a shadow moving around...
Vince: "He ran out of arena into the darkness of the Commerce
Casino - look there he is - he's pacing around - oh this is just
one of the most devastating hits on the River in the WPT."
Mike: "Well they're counting the chips up to make sure
Alan has more chips than JC - they had pretty much equal chips and
even if JC has any left, I don't think he can even Ante another
hand..."
JC gathers his composure and returns to the lights... "Does
he have me covered?" he asks the Tournament Director...
She confirms it: "By Five Thousand"
JC Turns away and shakes Alan's hand in a very sporting gesture
and he receives $265,000 for coming in fifth place.
Mike Sexton sums up: "So that's going to do it for JC
Tran and what a way to go out - you get all your money in with two
aces before the flop and get them cracked and I've never seen anyone
look so sad on leaving the World Poker Tour arena than JC Tran right
now."
Alan Goehring went on to win the final pocketing a cool $2,391,550
- very nice !

Post Mortem
******************
Well I've said it once and I've said it a thousand times - Pocket
Aces will win 85% of the time. That means they will get cracked
15% of the time - with odds like that - it's only fair to assume
that you should get your money in with, what is, the best hand pre-flop
and they will win 17 times out of 20 which is very good odds.
All you can do really - is to make sure that you are only up against
one opponent with them by going all-in or putting in a hefty raise
- and after that - it's in the hands of the poker-gods.
JC Tran did absolutely the right thing - he was just very very unlucky
to lose to a two-outer.

NEW SEASON OF HIGH STAKES POKER FEATURES "THE HAMMER," BIG ACTION
***************************************************************
Recently, on the season premier of High Stakes Poker, the players
established a rule where if you win a hand with 7-2 offsuit-aka
"The Hammer"-and show the cards, you get $500 from each person.
We won't give anything away, but suffice to say that the rule does
come into during this season's premier episode with hysterical results.
With the new hammer rule in effect, and the increased stakes coming
later in the season, this year's version of HSP promises to be the
best one ever.
You'll never guess who drops the hammer on whom.

Two Colorado men have been arrested for allegedly plotting to kill
a man who owed them money using rattlesnakes as their weapon of

The plot allegedly involved locking Mr. Sowash's legs in a box with
Rattlesnakes in it.
Bail for both Herbert Beck, 56 and Christopher Steelman, 34, was
set at $500,000.
It was reported that both men have extensive arrest records.
