Hiya there and how have you been this week??

Well - Dare I say it -?- - I'll whisper very quietly - I think I'm out of the slump I've been having these last 4 or 5 weeks - finally - I came 3rd in a 64-man double-shoot-out and 18th out of a 220-man tournament -

In both cases - I doubled my money - still didn't qualify for the big one - but slowly-slowly- catchee- monkey !! I'm confident that things are swinging back to normal -

One thing I really took on board was to play naturally - You know... If you've been catching bad cards all night - 8-3, 7-2, 9-5, J-2 etc etc - finally when you see a marginal hand - like A-rag or K-10 - it seems like a big hand - so you bet on it - and normally lose - which you would normally do with marginal hands - so your bad run continues -

So I decided to go back to absolute basics - just play premium hands - and if I got so short- stacked - I'd gamble on one hand - hopefully double-up and then wait for another premium hand - this worked really well and now things are going in an upward direction - I just want to get back to qualifying for the Sunday Tournaments again and I'll be well pleased !

If there's any Justice in this World !

*******************************

This week's hand comes from the current Premier League of Poker being shown on telly - Have you been watching it?? It's quite interesting because I play in a Poker League every Friday evening and the points really come into it - especially towards the end of the league -

For this hand though - it's near the beginning and the players just want to get as many points as possible.

I thought I would highlight a hand which I have called...

If there's any justice in this world !!

Six players started this round and they are now down to four players: Vicky Coren, Andy Black, Juha Helppi and Marcel Luske.

Vicky Coren is first to act and she folds.

Andy Black also folds.

Action is now on Juha who is getting short-stacked...

Jesse May is commentating: "It was the second hand that Juha won the big pot off Roland and he's just looked brilliant since then - but all of a sudden now - he's in danger of only 2 points - he'll be disappointed."

Eddy Scharfe is also commentating:
"Well er - in his first heat he made a somewhat marginal call at one point - I think it was King-Seven or something..."

Juha looks at his cards and says immediately: "All in."
He has KH and 2D
KH 2D

Marcel Luske looks at his cards and instantly sticks all his chips in to call.
"This is an easy one" he says.

Jesse May: "Uh oh - Uh OH !! - It was a quick call!"

Eddy: "That was a quick one !"

Marcel sees Juha's cards and is pleased with his call.

He looks behind him to get his cup of tea and I have to say - as I've freeze-framed the shot - that Marcel looks as dapper as ever! He is immaculately dressed in an obviously expensive suit with a crisp white shirt and fashionable tie.

Jesse: "Easy says Marcel - it feels like it's better than King-Deuce! It looks to Juha that it's better than King-Deuce."

We finally get to see that Marcel has QD & QC.
QD  QC

Jesse: "It's ALOT better !!"

Marcel sits there, holding his cup of tea and says to Juha - "At least you have an over !"

The total pot is 102,000. The odds of Marcel winning are 72% in his favour.

The Flop comes down: 6D 2S KC
6D  2S  KC

Jesse May exclaims: "Oh BOY !!"

The odds now switch massively to Juha's favour - a whopping 92%

Marcel needs to hit his two-outer...

The Turn is the 9C
9C

Marcel mumbles... "Always the River... Always - Why??"

The odds of Juha winning this hand are now a massive 95% in his favour.

The River comes down - Plop - QS !!!
QS

Everyone groans !!!

Eddy Scharfe: "OHHH WOWOWOWOWOW !!"

Juha gets up from the table smiling, he shakes Andy Black's hand - he shakes Vicky's hand and then reaches out to shake Marcel's hand - then he gracefully leaves the table - he looks like he's bursting to SWEAR AT THE TOP OF HIS VOICE - but he doesn't - not on camera anyways.

Jesse May is as eloquent as ever: "That hurt Juha - that was like swallowing your own spit !"

Vicky Coren comments: "They say it's healthy for your heart beat to go up for a few minutes every day."

Eddy Scharfe:   "Well you have to admit that Marcel got the money in with the best hand"

Yeah I know there's nothing amazing about this hand apart from Marcel hitting his two-outer - but for me - it was Justice - he went in with the best hand and his heart must have sunk as the Flop came down giving Juha two-pairs - then to hit Trips on the River - just lovely !!

Heartwarming stuff - and it just goes to show you that if you keep getting your money in with the best hand - then you will win most of the time !!
