In this week's E-Letter -
*The Fish has got Crabs !!
and
*Freeroll info for the Newcastle
leg of the GUKPT
*******************************
Hiya there and how have you been this week??
Again - I've had an OK week - I came second playing live in my Poker
League, then I came
seventh at the local casino - and I qualified very easily for this
Sunday's Tournament - so
it's all ok and positive !
And talking of being positive...
***************************
The Fish has got Crabs !!
**************************
This week's hand comes from the current Premier League that's being
shown on the telly.
Recently I've sent you an e-letter writing about Little Pairs -
I also wrote about Counterfeiting
and I also wrote about Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott - well this week's
hand encompasses all three of
these....
Hang onto your seat - it's a goody !!
As the cards are being dealt - Jesse May is summing up some of the
action so far...
Jesse: "A couple more hands and it's almost like these
guys have all run out of gas - do you
get the feeling that they've all talked themselves silly now?"
Vicky Coren is also commentating: "Well they're all furious
Jesse, they've all got themselves
involved with their Ace-Sixes and their funny little cards and nobody's
had the chance to do
anything impressive with them apart from Eddy Scharf !"
Jesse: "He's been the class of the field so far"
Vicky: "He really has."
The Blinds are $2,000/$4,000
Phil Hellmuth is first to act and he folds.
Eddy Scharf is next to act and he also folds.
Next is Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott - he picks up 3H & 3S.

He raises is up to $14,000.
Vicky: "The Fish has got Crabs"
Annie Duke is next to act and she folds.
Next up is Tony G. He picks up 4H & 4D. Without hesitation he grabs
his chips and goes all-in.
Jesse: "Uh oh... He's got $48,000 and he's gone all-in
- This is an absolute perfect situation
for him. Devilfish has one of two hands that Tony G has in really
bad shape."
Vicky: "Fantastic instincts from Tony G because we've
seen Devilfish raising with a range of
really big hands and brilliant time from Tony G this time to know
that his Fours are good."
Next up is Alex Kravchenko and he folds Ace-Rag.
Action is back to Devilfish who starts mumbling: "I can't
win one of these races - even if
I've got a race - Even if I'm lucky enough for it to be a race I'll
probably get stuffed!"
If he wants to call, he has to put another 34K in the pot which
currently stands at 66K
Jesse: "He's getting nearly 2:1 here Vicky - if he thinks
Tony has overcards only - might he
call?"
Vicky: "He knows that overcards is absolutely at best
- he can't have undercards."
Jesse: "Do you think he might actually find a fold here?
The Fish cannot afford to go out first
here."
After mumbling for a bit longer - Devilfish pipes up: "Well
- I've got a pair and I'm getting
2:1 - It might be evens or I might be a slight favourite - Nobody
else had an ace out there or
they would have been raising - so I guess you might have an ace
there Tony-boy... So I guess
I'll have to make this call - I don't like it at all... I can't
remember the last time I won a race..."
Jesse whispers: "Now that he's told Tony he has a pair
- Tony must be dying here - how
surprised is Tony going to be when he finds out it's an underpair???"
Vicky laughs: "He's going to be delighted !! - he thinks
it's two-sevens !! He knows it's not
higher than Sevens - Because any higher than sevens Devilfish's
money would be in the pot
- forget about it !!"
Dave pushes his chips in the middle saying: "I hope you
have an ace buddy !"
Vicky gasps: "Ohhh - he's done it - the Fish could be
going out with no points !!"
Tony flips his cards over and Devilfish nearly slits his own
wrists: "Oh **** it - I swear
on my kids life I was going to say that with my luck he's probably
got Fours - "
Annie Duke was already up from the table stretching her legs
- she pipes up: "I don't
know what it is Tony - Every time you have an overpair - he's got
him pipped - Have you
noticed that?? Every time - Every time he goes all-in he's got him
pipped !"
Vicky: "It's Tony G that's all in."
Jesse: "Yes the Devilfish covers him by about 30K - This
is a big pot!"
Tony G: "I gotta move them - what else can I do??"
In total there is $100,000 in the pot and the odds are 78% in Tony's
favour.
The Flop comes down: 3D KH KC !!
Vicky shouts out loud: "OHHHHH - THere's the THREE !!!"
Devilfish grimaces: "I haven't won it yet..."
Vicky keeps shouting: "FULL HOUSE for the DEVILFISH -
ASTONISHING turn of events!!"
The odds are now 83% in Devilfish's favour.
Tony G shakes his head... "I knew it - I had a bad feeling."
Vicky: "I tell you what - I hope this stops the Fish moaning
about his luck for a very long
time but..."
She cuts off in mid-sentence as the Turn comes down KD !!!!!!!

Vicky is now at the top of her voice: "BUT OHHHHH - a
THIRD KING - THIS MEANS A BIGGER
HOUSE FOR TONY G!!!"
Devilfish: "Well ****ing hell - is this a ****ing
joke or what???? WOW - I finally ****ING out-
flopped him huh?"
Annie Duke is laughing: "I called the King - did you see
that??"
Tony G: "You could catch a 3..."
Jesse: "Lord almighty !!"
Vicky: "He's drawing to one card."
The River comes down: 2H

Tony G looks to the heavens in thanks.
Vicky: "Astonishing - WOW!! - Oh - you gotta feel for
the Devilfish there."
Devilfish looks at Tony: "If anybody else would have flopped
that against you - do you think
you would have beaten them??"
Tony G replied: "I was very lucky I know that"
Devilfish continues: "Do you think if Phil would have
hit that full house you would have hit
that ****ing King??"
Tony G: "I'm a very lucky person !"
Devilfish sighs: "Is it scary or what??"
Vicky: "To be fair - Devilfish put his money in as the
big underdog."
Jesse: "Yeah - Threes were a big underdog but not after
that Flop - "
Vicky laughs: "It's unbelievable - it's as if the deck
of cards itself is on television and wants
to show a bit of razzle-dazzle!"
**************
Post Mortem
**************
I'm a firm believer in the power of Positive Thinking - OK - I know
it's not going to change the
cards as they sit there in the deck - but I do feel, without getting
all spiritual, that you can
create a positive energy which will help you in your game -
Devilfish has been moaning all through the latest series of this
current Premier League, that his
luck is awful, that other players hit impossible cards, but I feel
that his total negative energy
does absolutely nothing to help his cause.
Having said that - did you see that WPT Women's night when Kelli
Griggs was playing??
It was unbelievable - She was the amateur player who made it to
Heads Up and the only card
that would save her was a Queen - there were two left in the deck
- and she started rocking
in her chair... "It is my Destiny... It is my Destiny..."
Then she got the audience to chant "Queen Queen Queen...!"
I can't remember Roland De Wolfe's comments - but they were suitably
sarcastic and very
funny -
But the point I'm trying to make is - that somewhere between Kelli
Griggs and Dave Ulliott -
the power of Positive Thinking can't hurt and can definitely help,
not just in Poker... but in LIFE !!
Wa hay !!
